The Vert BESS project represents the third project delivered by Omexom for ZE Energy, including the second collaboration in France.
Commercial operation of the project began in October 2025. Omexom supplied, installed, and commissioned five independent BESS units, each connected to an Enedis grid connection point and directly linked to the photovoltaic power plant. These BESS are designed to operate in coordination, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness to grid needs.
Omexom is responsible for the operation of these BESS around the clock, ensuring reliable system performance, maximizing asset availability, and optimizing revenue generation over the long term.
This ongoing partnership reflects a strong, long-term relationship built on trust, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to accelerating the deployment of renewable energy storage solutions across Europe.
The Vert hybrid power plant is engineered to deliver essential system services that improve grid stability and flexibility. By balancing variable solar generation with dispatchable battery storage, the facility mitigates fluctuations in supply and demand, thereby enhancing the reliability of the electricity network. Integrating storage with solar production reduces energy losses and significantly strengthens the security of supply for the grid.
This project supports the energy transition by demonstrating that large-scale renewable assets can actively support grid performance, rather than solely supplying intermittent power to the system.
The Vert project is not just a simple hybrid power plant; It’s a project that combines innovation, safety, and local development. In January 2009, Storm Klaus destroyed the Landes Forest, severely impacting the economic situation of the municipality of Vert due to the stopping of its forestry activities. The Vert project makes it possible to reuse 60 hectares of damaged land by developing a sustainable and profitable project for the region.
Beyond supporting solar power plants, BESS helps restore land damaged by natural disasters. At the VERT site, a former pine forest was devastated by a major storm and left abandoned, impacting the local economy. Today, that land has been given new life through a BESS installation as a renewable energy project.
A hybrid power plant integrates photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage to produce, store, and release electricity when it is most valuable to the grid. This approach provides greater flexibility and reliability than standalone solar installations.

As solar production increases, the generated electricity is supplied directly to the grid. During midday, when solar output peaks, surplus energy is stored in battery systems. In the evening, as solar generation decreases, the batteries discharge stored energy back into the grid.
