Présentation :

Nobody thinks about the power grid until it fails. Yet every commute, hospital ward, and home depends on a distribution network that has to work every hour of every day. In southern Stockholm, that responsibility now rests on Omexom's newly awarded contract, a long-term commitment spanning four years, extendable to as many as eight, with around 100 specialists keeping the grid running.

Stockholm’s rapid growth and electrification demand a power grid that meets high standards of reliability, availability, and capacity. Delivering safe electricity to residents, businesses, and critical operations takes both infrastructure investment and skilled specialists, a need underscored by Sweden’s grid data.

Omexom, VINCI Energies’ energy infrastructure brand, has been awarded a long-term contract by Vattenfall Eldistribution for the electricity distribution network in southern Stockholm. The contract covers the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, connections, and modification of the local power grid.

  • This project is a great opportunity to show that sustainable solutions and smart resource use can align with high reliability and long service life. Reusing components and choosing low-impact materials are key to our future grid strategy.

  • The electrification of society increases the demands for a well-functioning electricity grid. Meeting future needs requires both investments in infrastructure and access to the right expertise.

The LTC (long-term contract) runs for four years, with the option to extend annually for up to four more. About 100 of our employees in Sweden will work on it. Combined with other ongoing projects in the region, Omexom is now responsible for operating and maintaining grid infrastructure that serves around two million people.

“This is a very important deal for us and a strong testament to the expertise, experience, and delivery capability that exists within Omexom,” says Jan Hintze, CEO of Omexom in Sweden. “We are proud of the trust and look forward to continuing to contribute to a robust and future-proof electricity grid in the Stockholm region.”

This contract builds on Omexom’s presence in Sweden, where we already deliver several similar contracts. It also reflects Omexom’s strong expertise in distribution grids, a key enabler of Europe’s energy transition.

As electrification accelerates, distribution networks face growing demands to integrate decentralized energy sources, strengthen resilience, and support increasingly digitalized operations. With significant investment needed across Europe to modernize aging infrastructure and expand grid capacity, Omexom continues to support utilities with the operation, maintenance, and development of reliable, resilient, and future-ready distribution systems that help meet tomorrow’s electricity needs.
