A milestone for Poland’s energy transition is taking shape in the Baltic Sea. Baltic Power, the country’s first offshore wind farm, is currently under development through a joint venture between Polish energy company ORLEN and Canadian offshore wind specialist Northland Power. The dedicated project company, Baltic Power, will supply renewable electricity from the Baltic Sea to the Polish market.
With a planned capacity of approximately 1.2 GW, the wind farm is set to generate around 4 TWh of renewable energy annually, sufficient to supply electricity to over 1.5 million homes. The initiative marks a considerable advancement in developing Poland’s domestic offshore sector, enhancing local value generation and creating a new phase in the nation’s energy landscape.
With Baltic Power entering its operational stage, the project has awarded its first critical service contracts. Omexom has been contracted to deliver essential services for the so-called “above-water” infrastructure, encompassing inspection, maintenance, and operation of both the offshore and onshore substations, including high-voltage equipment, transformers, switchgear, and safety and fire protection systems.
The services will be delivered by Omexom Offshore in Germany, combining a strong local presence with proven international offshore expertise.

The Baltic Power wind farm is currently at an advanced stage of its offshore installation campaign. More than 45 of the 76 planned 15 MW turbines are already being prepared for testing and commissioning, with the full installation campaign expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. Once operational, the farm’s service base in Łeba will serve as the home port and maintenance hub for approximately 30 years.
