Omexom has once again won the confidence to contribute with its expertise and commitment in connection with Umeå Energi’s ongoing voltage increase and expansion of power grid in Umeå Municipality, Sweden.

This summer, Omexom handed over a new 170 kV substation at the University of Umeå. The design and construction of another station, Ålidhem, is now being started, which is located directly adjacent to the heating plant along the E4 / E12-an in Umeå.

The new assignment is for a total contract, comprising a new 170/12 kV substation with gas insulated 170 kV switchgear and a 12 kV switchgear.  Omexom is responsible for the complete life-cycle of the project: from design, delivery of equipment, soil and construction work to installation, testing and commissioning. The contract also includes responsibility for two separate transformer cells under the roof, control and monitoring systems and zero point equipment.

Like the University substation, the Ålidhem substation is built indoors and in concrete, all according to sustainable design requirements.

“The new assignment is fully in line with Omexom's promise to contribute in the energy transition locally, nationally and globally. With competence and quality, we promote access to electricity, improve security of supply and contribute to the development of sustainable energy and community-critical infrastructure. ”
